On 5/2/24 at 1:19pm Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ashley Akinleye arrived at Emeryville Child Developement Center - Day Care Program to conduct a random/annual inspection. LPA was met by director Desiree Garland. LPA explained the reason for visit and was granted access to the facility. Present during inspection were 44 preschool children in care. Hours of operation are 7:30am - 6:00pm.

LPA toured the facility with center director Desiree Garland for a health and safety inspection. LPA observed that there were two preschool/pre-k classrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, multipurpose room and outdoor play area.

LPA inspected indoors and outdoors and observed the areas to be neat and clean. The facility is currently using one of the two infant rooms for care. Infants were engaged in various activities under the visual supervision of the teachers, aides and student teachers. Rooms, restrooms, and in use areas were inspected. Food and feeding bottles were labeled and stored safely. Food storage areas were sanitary, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on and were in good repair. Napping area had cribs and was cordoned off from the activity area by dividers. The infant changing table has raised sides that are at least 3 inches in height, has a vinyl changing pad that is at least 1 inch thick and in good condition. Napping equipment is appropriate. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to the health and safety of children were stored in places inaccessible to them. Cabinets, drawers, and rooms used for storage were locked. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard.
