13 | Licensing Program Analyst Lisa Dyer met with Director Lisa Ross regarding the above allegation of Personal Rights. Present today at the facility is the director, 1 teacher, and 10 day-care children.
Complaint allegation was that Staff yell at children in care. Interviews were conducted. A witness stated that they observed staff yelling at children. Staff state that sometimes they do have to elevate their voices when speaking to children so they can hear and respond. Staff stated that when they speak to the children in a low voice the children do not respond. All staff stated that they do not yell at children.
LPA witnessed the interactions between staff and children. Children seemed to be very comfortable interacting with Staff when they completed activities; or to ask questions.
Although the staff’s voice may have been elevated, interactions with children were meaningful, respectful and personal. Children did not appear scared or fearful when they interacted with staff, especially with the director. Children were too young to be interviewed.
Therefore, the above allegation will be finalized as Unsubstantiated. Exit interview was conducted. Notice of site visit must remain posted for 30 days.
