25 | On 8/29/2023 at 1:16pm Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Morgan Pringle met with Director Carmen Ortiz for an Unannounced Required 1-Year Inspection. The facility operates in building 3500 of Chabot College. There were twenty-two (22) preschool age children, and seven (7) additional staff present during the inspection. Five (5) classrooms, PreK1, PreK2, PreK3, PreK4 and PreK5, were toured for a health and safety inspection. Two (2) classrooms in portables, PreK4 and PreK5, are not currently in use, but are used for a separate Saturday program. The facility operates from 7:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. This facility is a Title V school and has a shared inactive infant license, #13411746.
The facility has ample age-appropriate materials in the classrooms that were observed to be clean and in good condition. All toxins, cleaning products, children’s medication, and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas. Each classroom has a children’s bathroom. All bathrooms are clean, well maintained, free of defects with ample number of sinks and toilets. There are separate staff bathrooms on site as well. There are multiple fully charged fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, and smoke detectors on site. Facility does not transport children. All napping equipment is properly stored, clean and well maintained. All children are provided blanked by the facility.
The kitchen is clean, well maintained, and free from defects. All hazards in the kitchen are made inaccessible to the children in care. All food on site is properly labeled and stored. Facility provides two (2) meals and one (1) snacks a day for the children. All food that will be brought from the children’s home will be properly labeled and stored. All children have access to clean drinking water as well.
