25 | On December 5, 2024 at 8:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Randy Miranda conducted an unannounced annual inspection for health and safety. LPA met with teacher Wanda Shepard. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility. At 8:45am Center Director Ida Gemignani-Stearns arrived and accompanied LPA. Present for the inspection were 82 preschool age children, 17 toddler-age children, 10 infants, 17 staff members, and one (1) ABA Therapist. The center is a combination center with an infant component #013412603. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6:30am to 6:00pm.
Seven (7) classrooms were inspected, and teacher-child ratio was observed. There are adequate play and learning materials available. The floors, furniture, and equipment are age appropriate and in good repair. There is adequate heating/air conditioning, ventilation, and lighting. Drinking water is available inside and outside of the center. There is proper individual storage space for each child. The isolation area for sick children is in the director's office, away from other children in care. The center has wired smoke detectors in every room, carbon monoxide detectors, working telephone, pull down fire alarm system and sprinklers, and five (7) fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers which meets standards established by the State Fire Marshal. Disaster drills conducted at least once every 6 months and the last one conducted was on 9/24/2024. All required documents are posted in a publicly accessible area.
LPA inspected the outdoor play area. It is fully fenced with trees and canopies that provide shade for children at play. There's a play structure with a slide that has cushioning underneath to absorb children's falls. There are age-appropriate play equipment on the yard and multiple staff members who are watching the children from different viewing stations during playtime. The staff also brings the children’s water bottles and cups to keep the children hydrated while on the playground and teachers will refill them as necessary. The play equipment is age appropriate and in good repair. LPA observed in one small play house, an accumulation of leaves and water. Water level does not pose an immediate health risk. The small play house requires maintenance. |
