This is a split-level 2 story home which consists of a lower floor and upper split-level floor with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, basement/converted garage, laundry room, kitchen, dining room, living room, and backyard.

ON-LIMIT: Dining room, living room, upstairs bedroom on the right, kitchen, upstairs bathroom and 2 backyard sections containing 3 locked sheds.

OFF-LIMIT: Lower floor consisting of basement/converted garage, bedroom, and laundry room, and street-side section of the backyard separated from the on-limit backyard areas by locked gate.

The LPAs toured all areas used by children during this visit.

Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and central heating system for safety and comfort. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. There is a working telephone in the home. Detergents, poisons, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are made inaccessible in the home.

• Type A deficiencies are violations of licensing requirements that, if not corrected, have a direct and immediate risk to the health, safety, or personal rights of persons in care.

• Type B deficiencies are violations of licensing requirements that, without correction, could become a risk to the health, safety, or personal rights of persons in care, a recordkeeping violation that could impact the care of said persons and/or protection of their resources, or a violation that could impact those services required to meet the needs of persons in care.

Licensee Gillies stated that there are no weapons or firearms in the home. Licensee has an up-to-code 3A40BC fire extinguisher and working smoke/carbon monoxide detector on the premises. LPAs observed a screened fireplace in the living room. Licensees last conducted earthquake drill 09/22/2025. Licensee Gillies stated that there are no pets in the home.

LPAs inspected the backyard play space. The backyard play area consists of 2 sections separated by locked gates and contains 3 locked sheds, 1 planter, 2 slides, 1 sandbox, 3 benches, and 1 horse play structure. LPAs observed a fully fenced and safe backyard for children. LPAs observed age appropriate toys for children to play with. Facility does not provide transportation for children, but Director understands that children cannot be left alone, unattended in parked vehicles. LPAs reminded Licensee Gillies that when outside of the facility, 100% supervision of children in care is required.

Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has an Identification and Emergency form. The Licensee's Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate will expire in 08/16/2027. Required postings were observed near the entrance. LPAs reminded the Licensee that day care needs to be operated within the limitations and capacity of a Large Family Child Care Home with regards to ratios and that Licensee has to be present in the day care for 80% of the operation hours.

LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee Gillies and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPAs also informed Licensee Gillies of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPAs reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Licensee Gillies was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Licensee Gillies was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, Licensee Gillies confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
