32 | The facility is open in the morning for children before they attend their regular schooling and also open in the afternoon for an afterschool program. The facility is clean and well organized with age appropriate furnishings and equipment in good repair. Surfaces including floors and counter tops are free of hazards and toxins. The smaller classroom has a sink with a water fountain for the children. There are solid waste trash cans in both rooms with tight fitting lids and cubbies for children to store their belongings. Both classrooms have first aid kits hanging in backpacks on the wall near the exit door. The facility has fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers last serviced October 27, 2021. Smoke alarm system is built into the classroom and managed by the school district. LPA did not observe any carbon monoxide detectors in the classrooms and was advised these detectors are built into the buildings fire alarm system. Hot water is not functioning, a work order has been placed to building maintenance to make the correction. A technical violation was issued.
Children’s records were reviewed. A facility roster was requested and a copy made for the LPA. All files selected were complete and well organized. No children currently enrolled require any IMS service.
Staff records were reviewed. A personnel roster was requested and a copy made for the LPA. One staff member has not completed the Mandated Reporter training, the balance of all files selected were complete and well organized. The staff member signed the forms acknowledging to report child abuse so a technical violation was issued with the stipulation that mandated reporter training must be completed (child care provider AB1207) and renewed every two years.LPA reminded site director of the following: Mandated Reporter training and CPR/First Aid is also renewed every two years.
Site Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
