Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Andrew Elliot and Licensing Program Manager Wynn Norona met with Director in Sabeeta Banfal for an unannounced Annual Random Inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the staff. In addition to the Director, there are 12 children and 2 staff present today. The program consists of two half day sessions: 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 12:15 pm to 3:15 pm Monday - Friday in room #25 on the Searles Elementary School Campus. The facility was inspected indoor and outdoor today for health and safety hazards and the following was observed; There is a working fire alarm system at the elementary. The room has a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, a fully charged fire extinguisher 3A40BC model, and a working telephone available. There are no bodies of water, firearms, or weapons on the premises. The center is in good condition with proper temperature and ventilation and is free of any hazards. All furniture is in good repair. The Center has age-appropriate toys and equipment. The garbage cans have tight fitting covers. Uncontaminated drinking water is readily available to children inside and outside the facility.
The outdoor play area is fenced for supervision. The play area is well shaded by trees and if fully fenced in. The bathrooms appear to be safe, sanitary, and free of any hazardous items. There is a menu posted for the entire month. Food is prepared and delivered by Kidango, Inc. The classroom has appropriate postings. The last Emergency Earthquake Drill was conducted on 06/12/2023 and was properly logged.

The last Emergency Fire Drill was conducted on 06/15/2023 and properly logged. All cleaning agents and poisons are stored safely in lock cabinets or out of reach. Food items are stored safely and dated. The facility has two fully stock first aid kids, one inside and one in the outside play area. The facility keeps stocked emergency bags, and has a place ready to store EpiPens in case of IMS are needed.

At 11:35 am, LPA reviewed sign-in and out sheet. The center has a complete record of sign-in/out sheets by an authorized pick up person. LPA reviewed five children records and all files are complete. All children have a record of emergency identification information on file. Three staff records reviewed were complete. All staff has a criminal record clearance on file. The staff has a current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate on file. All staff has taken Mandated Reporter training within the last 2 years of the date of this inspection.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. If any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.
