On October 27, 2022 at 8:00am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Julia Placencia and Simerjit Kaur arrived at the facility unannounced for a Required 1-Year Inspection. LPAs met with director Ana Suan. There were 36 toddlers and an additional 11 staff members present during the inspection. This program consists of four classrooms (Eucalyptus, Cypress, Maple, Oak) and is part of a combination center which includes a preschool component. This center also includes an elementary school and middle school. The facility was toured for a health and safety inspection. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm.

Furniture and napping equipment observed during inspection were age appropriate and in good condition. The indoor and outdoor activity space for the toddler program is physically separate from the preschool component. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children were inaccessible during the inspection. The toilets and sinks were clean and in operable condition. The floors were free of tripping hazards. Kitchen/food preparation and storage areas were observed to be clean, and free of evidence of rodents, and food is protected against contamination. All storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers that are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Lunches are brought from home, however, parents may also order special lunches through Choice Lunch, which may be found on the center's website. Snacks are provided by the center and menus are posted. There are no pools or similar bodies of water at this facility. Outdoor activity space and playground equipment were observed to be safe, free of hazards and had appropriate cushioning material to absorb falls. There is a shaded area provided for the children. Required licensing documents were posted. Fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors meet State Fire Marshall standards. Fire Disaster Drills are conducted at least every six months and the last drill was conducted on 10/10/22. The facility is operating within its licensed capacity. The facility is within ratio today with 1 teacher supervising no more than six toddlers LPA did not observe any child left without visual supervision during the inspection. LPA verified both opening and closing staff have current CPR/First aid training. The center is in compliance with the sign in and out procedure. At 12:00pm, a random selection of children and staff files were reviewed and contain licensing forms. Teachers present today meet the qualification requirements. ***Continued on LIC 809C...
