25 | On April 27, 2023 at approximately 11:45am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Haderer arrived unannounced to verify lead exceedance remediation has been completed allowing the deficiencies to be cleared. Present for today's visit was the site director Juana Perez 3 teachers; and 19 children in care (all preschool age). The facility is in ratio today.
LPA visited and toured the facility and verified that all water taps used for drinking had been made inoperable / capped and outside water was available for children in care.
Water sampling revealed some faucets had lead values greater than 5.5 ppb and were deemed an Action Level Exceedance and a Plan of Correction was issued. Faucets were replace and retested, however, results revealed high lead levels in faucets still existed. The center immediately shut down all faucets for water consumption and switched to providing bottled water to be consumer by children.
The Plan of Correction called for the facility to permanently shut down all water fountains in the childcare facility and close them with angle stops, and provide outside bottled water to be used for all water consumed by children and staff.
LPA toured the facility and confirmed that all water fountains tested and found to have lead exceedance have been permanently closed with angle stops and are not functioning. LPA also verified that one-gallon water containers have been brought in (and will continue to be brought in) for water consumption needs. The deficiency was cleared this day.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Site Director Juana Perez. |
