25 | On June 12, 2025 at 8:00 AM., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elimika Woods conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection and met with the director Lolita King-Yates. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and the facility was toured for a health and safety inspection. There were four (4) infant children present during this inspection and two (2) additional staff members. The hours of operation are 7:30 AM-5:30 PM, Monday -Friday.
All individuals subject to criminal record review have a clearance or exemption and have been associated to the facility. LPA conducted a census of the children and the census matches the signatures signed in on the sign in sheet. LPA reviewed the files of two children in care around 9:00 AM, and all the files contained Personal and Parent's Rights, Medical Consent forms, and Identification & Emergency Information.
The one (1) classroom was inspected around 9:30 AM and teacher child ratio was observed. The classroom was set up for infant children, this area had gates separating the different areas or rooms for children to explore. There are adequate play and learning materials available. The floors were clean, the furniture the correct size for infant children, and the equipment was age appropriate and in good repair. The changing tables were in arm's reach of the faucets and there are enough individual cribs for every infant.
LPA reviewed all staff files around 10:00 AM, and files have the required Health Screening, and Employee Rights forms, At least one opening/ closing staff member has a current CPR & First Aid Certificate. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months and the last one conducted was on 04/14/2025.
The center has wired smoke detectors that are wired to notify the fire department when triggered. Per director, the smoke detectors are fully functional and serviced regularly. The center has a working telephone, first aid kits, emergency backpack, pull down fire alarm system, and multiple fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher which meets standards established by the State Fire Marshal.
LPA tested the centers carbon monoxide detector in the infant classroom and found it to be functioning properly. There is proper individual storage space for each child to put their belonging. The isolation area for sick children is the director's office, away from other children in care. All required documents are posted in a public accessible area.
