32 | There is an ample supply of age-appropriate toys, all observed to be safe and in good condition. The home, including the daycare areas and rooms, is neat and clean, with sufficient heating and ventilation to ensure both safety and comfort. No hazardous materials, toxins, or bodies of water accessible to children were observed by the LPA.
The licensee and spouse have completed Health and Safety training. Their CPR and First Aid certificates are valid until January 6, 2026. Mandated Reporter Training for both individuals expire on June 10, 2026. The licensee was reminded that CPR and First Aid certification must be renewed every two years.
The licensee, the licensee’s spouse, and the granddaughter (serving as translator) are all in compliance with TB immunization requirements, with negative test results. The licensee is up to date with immunization laws applicable to daycare providers. Records were available showing proof of Tdap and MMR immunizations.
A fire/disaster drill log was available. The last fire drill was conducted on August 12, 2025, and the last earthquake drill on April 17, 2025. The home has a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher mounted in the family room. Fire alarms and a carbon monoxide detector were tested and found to be in working order. There is no fireplace in the home.
Children’s files were reviewed. The childcare facility roster was available, and records were complete and well-organized. Infants had signed and dated Infant Safe Sleep Plans (LIC 9227), and sleep logs were properly maintained.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
