On August 4, 2003, Licensing Program Analyst, Simerjit Kaur met with Stephany Marchena Chavez for an UNANNOUNCED 1-YEAR RANDOM INSPECTION. There were 25 children, 13 staff members and 1 part time volunteer in the facility. The center is a preschool with a toddler component. The facility is within ratio and capacity compliance today. The facility operates on the campus of Las Positas College. Facility operating hours are 7:00am- 5:30pm Monday- Friday. The facility was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection.

This program operates out of toddler classrooms #2, #3 and Pre-school classrooms #1, #2 and #4. All classrooms were inspected for age appropriate furnishings, equipment, and adequate storage for children’s belongings. There are safe age-appropriate toys and learning materials available to children throughout the classrooms. All hazardous materials and toxins including disinfectants and cleaning solutions were observed to be made inaccessible to children during today's inspection. Furniture accessible to children was observed to be age-appropriate and in operable condition. The menus are posted in each classrooms. The facility provides breakfast and snacks. The facility requires children to bring their own lunch. All required postings are posted. LPA also reviewed the storage of medication and medical equipment/supplies are inaccessible to the children.
The bathrooms have age appropriate faucets and toilets in working condition. LPA toured the outdoor play area. All play equipment was observed to be operable and age-appropriate during the inspection. Areas around slides and high climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb falls. Water is available indoor and outdoor. There are no pools, hot tubs, ponds, or any other bodies of water accessible to children during today's inspection. Per director, there are no firearms present on the premises. The facility has 3A40BC fire extinguishers and working carbon monoxide detector in each rooms. The smoke detectors and fire alarms are monitored by Las Positas College. Children's files and staff files were reviewed. The opener and closer staff member has current CPR/First Aid certificate. All staff members have current mandated reporter training and immunization.

A copy of the children’s roster was obtained. The center also conducts and documents fire and earthquake drills once every 6 months and the logs show that drills were conducted on 5/4/23. Sign in/out logs are maintained.
LPA discussed the Individual Infant Sleep Plan (LIC 9227) and infant/toddler sleep logs. Per director all sleep, feeding and diaper logs are logged on facility daily log form. The director were reminded that baby bouncers, exersaucers, johnny jumpers and similar items are not allowed in licensed day care.

Facility director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.


The facility is constructed after January 1, 2010, therefore the facility does not need to test their water.
