25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jyoti Saini met with Director Charlene Sigman for an unannounced annual random inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the staff. In addition to the director, there were 65 children (12 toddlers and 53 preschoolers) and 20 staff members were present today. The facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in rooms #1 through #8. The facility was inspected both indoors and outdoors today for health and safety hazards, and the following was observed:
The facility has a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, a fully charged fire extinguisher, and a working telephone available. Per director, there are no firearms stored in the facility. During today’s inspection, LPA did not observe any bodies of water. The center is in good condition, with proper temperature and ventilation. All furniture is in good repair. The children have separate cubbies labeled with their names and pictures. Each classroom has a separate first aid kit and first aid backpacks. Medications are stored in first aid backpacks, high up on the shelves. There are separate bathrooms for children and staff, and the bathrooms appear to be safe, sanitary, and free of any hazardous items. Each child has a separate cot and blanket. Per director, the bedding is sent home weekly to be washed by the parents. The children bring their own snacks and lunch; however, the facility does have extra nonperishable snacks for emergencies. Drinking water is readily available through water bottles brought from home and water fountains available indoors and outdoors. The classroom has appropriate postings. The last Emergency Drill was conducted on 11/14/2024 at 11:00 AM and is properly logged. The facility utilizes the Brightwheel app to sign in and out the children. During the inspection, the director confirmed that toddlers are enrolled on a part-time basis and do not participate in nap time. The LPA reminded the director of the safe sleep guidelines regarding the 15-minute sleep check. All children’s records reviewed were complete. Each child has a record of emergency identification information on file. All staff have a criminal record clearance on file. The opening and closing staff members have First Aid/CPR certifications on file. The facility roster was reviewed, and a copy was obtained.
