25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jyoti Saini met with Licensee Varalakshmi Dasu for an unannounced annual random inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the helper. Present during this inspection were the Licensee and helper, supervising 12 children (9 preschoolers, two school-age, and one infant). The Licensee lives in the house with her husband and minor son. The single-story home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining room, garage, and backyard. The hours of operation are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Daycare area: living room, hallway bathroom, bedroom #1, dining area, kitchen, and backyard.
Off-limit areas: master bedroom, adjacent bathroom #2, bedroom #2, and garage. All off-limit areas are inaccessible by closed and locked doors and visual supervision.
LPA inspected the house for health and safety hazards. The home has a working telephone, a functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher that meets the minimum requirements. The living room is the main daycare area. During today's inspection, LPA did not observe any bodies of water. There is no fireplace in the daycare area. All kitchen cabinets are latched to prevent children from gaining access. Child-sized tables and chairs for snacks and activities are set up in the dining area. Each child has a separate cot and bedding. Per the Licensee, the bedding is sent home every Friday, and parents bring it back clean on Monday. The Licensee confirmed during the inspection that there are no guns or weapons of any kind in the home. There are no pets in the home. The outdoor play area is fenced and equipped with multiple playhouses, an A-Frame Stand Outdoor Playset for Kids, with a Saucer Swing, Slide, Seesaw, Glider, and Swing Seat. LPA instructed the Licensee to follow the manufacturer's guidelines while children use the outdoor playset to ensure safety. The Licensee and helper have valid CPR & First Aid and Mandated Reporter training on file. The Licensee provides daily snacks and meals. The Licensee conducts and documents Fire/Disaster Drills; the log indicates a drill was conducted in September 2024. LPA reviewed the children's files, which are complete and up-to-date. All required postings are properly displayed. LPA discussed safe sleep guidelines and reviewed the 15-minute sleep check. The facility roster was also reviewed, and a copy was obtained.
