25 | On October 7th, 2022 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) April Wright arrived at 9:50am for an unannounced Required-1 Year inspection and met with Director Kimberly Dunham. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Director. Present today were seventeen (17) preschool children and five (5) fingerprint cleared staff members present during the inspection. The facility is in ratio today. The facility was toured for a health and safety inspection. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Classrooms: The classroom was inspected for age-appropriate furnishings, equipment, & adequate storage for children’s belongings. LPA observed the cleanliness of floors & surfaces, the presence of a fully functional carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detector/fire alarms, and three (3) fully charged fire extinguishers, one (1) in the classroom and two 2 in the lobby. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first-aid kit available in the classroom and director's office. In January 2022, Echo Church building experience a fire and damage was done to original building which caused damage to facility playground. Per director, Echo church administration is waiting on insurance company to approve claim so original facility/playground can be repaired.
Food Service: Facility provides catered food service to children in care on M/W/TH/F. Children bring home lunch on Tuesdays. No cleaners were found stored with food items.
Bathrooms: Facility has separate staff and child designated bathrooms. Toilets and faucets are in safe and sanitary operating condition. The children are able to reach the sinks and toilets. Supplies are available to children.
Outdoor Play Area: There is a play structure with slide that has wood chips and cushion to absorb falls. There are no bodies of water, or free-standing water accessible to children. There are age appropriate toys and materials for the children. The playground outside is fenced and all equipment and surfaces are free from hazards.
Records: All individuals subject to criminal record review have a clearance and have been associated to the facility. LPA reviewed eight (8) children’s files and five (5) staff files. LPA reviewed the facility roster & personnel record and obtained a copy. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid Certification. Mandated Reporter certificates were reviewed and S1 and S2 have expired. The center is in compliance with sign in and out procedure. Emergency Drills are recorded and performed at least every six months with last conducted for fire/earthquake on 9/21 and 9/22/2022. Per Director, there are no firearms on the premises. All required documents are posted in a publicly accessible area.
