A prelicensing inspection was conducted today at 9:00am by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Emilia Grisak. LPA met with applicant Ashlie LaGrone. The applicant is requesting a license for 29 preschool and 12 school-age children, with a total capacity of 41. The facility will operate Monday-Friday, 6:30am to 5:30pm. The facility has a school age room, preschool room, music room utilized by both preschool and school age children, and two nap rooms. There are also four toilets and three sinks available for children and a toilet and sink available for staff and/or ill children.

The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. The following areas will be off limits to children: a locked outdoor shed. These areas have been made inaccessible by means of locks. There is a kitchen to store/prepare meals. There are two nap rooms for preschoolers, and school agers who wish to nap, and children will nap on mats. The isolation area for sick children will be located in the office. There is a changing table available in bathroom for preschoolers who are not potty trained.

The outdoor play area is fully fenced and there are separate play areas for preschoolers and school agers. There are play structures and equipment for children to play on and adequate cushioning underneath using pea gravel and mats. There is no pool, spa, pond, fountain, or any other body of water on the premises. The poisons are locked in an outdoor shed. There is safe and age appropriate furniture, toys, and play equipment available for children.

A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit. There is enough indoor space for 41 children and outdoor space for 61 children. There are four toilets and three sinks available for children. Based on the above, the maximum capacity of the facility could be 41. A fire clearance was granted on 7/26/22 for 41 children.

LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child’s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted.

Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
