LPA met with facility representative Vicki Markss. Applicant is requesting to add infant and toddlers to 65406934 COLUSA PRESCHOOL LEARNING CENTER B. They have requested to licensed for # 40 children, 8 infants. age 0-24 months, 8 toddlers (both in room B) age 18-36 months and 24 2-5 years (in room B). Hours of operation will be Monday -Friday, 7:30am to 4pm, year round. The facility is located adjacent to 65404536 COLUSA CHILD DEVELOPMENT CTR – PRESCHOOL & 65403221 COLUSA PRESCHOOL LEARNING CENTER A. The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. The following areas will be off limits to children: office. These areas have been made inaccessible by means of a key lock. There no kitchen, meals are delivered from next door. There is a nap room for infants with 3 cribs, preschool & toddlers nap in mats in the room. The isolation area for sick children will be located in the office. The changing table is located near the sink in the infant counter area. The outdoor play area is fully fenced. There are no climbing structures for infants. There is a small slide in the grass embankment. The preschool children will use the licensed preschool yard at 705 6^th st. with a waiver, if approved. The climbing structure has 2 slides and is rated age 2-5 years with rubber matting under for cushioning. There is no pool, spa, pond, fountain, or any other body of water on the premises. The poisons are locked in janitors closet & cabinets. is safe and age appropriate furniture, toys, and play equipment available for children. continued....

The facility requests to SHARE THE 65404536 COLUSA CHILD DEVELOPMENT CTR –PRESCHOOL yard which measures 7,225 square feet. A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit. The inside, room square footage measured 1,631 square feet. Children have access to at least 4 toilets & 6 sinks. The outside, yard square footage for the shared infant and toddler yard measured 2,376 square feet. Based on above, sufficient for the requested capacity.

The following items need to be completed prior to the granting the license:

1. Waiver approval for shared infant toddler yard
a. Update the letter request with this regulation 101805 (e) The department may approve alternate use of outdoor play space to achieve separation from preschool children or infants as necessary to protect the safety of children in care
b. include schedules.
2. Waiver approval for shared preschool yard located at 705 6TH STREET
a. provide a schedule for the preschool yard
3. Letter to name the director/site supervisor

4. Proof the director completed: Preventive health practices course, including Childhood Nutrition and Lead Exposure

Criminal Record Clearance - Child Care Centers:
Vicki Markss was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Vicki Markss and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep, as an additional resource. LPA also informed [applicant, licensee, or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/, and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
