25 | On 6/25/24 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Monica Mathur and Kareeca Sykes conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection at Sandy Bonnel's home and met with Licensee, Sandy. Present in the home were Licensee, her spouse and 4 daycare children.
Licensee requests to add previously off limit swimming pool area to on-limit and use for daycare children. Pool is accessed through the off limit Family room sliding door. There is a metal gate that opens into the pool area. White lattice fence panels are installed separating the house structure from the pool area. LPAs inspected the pool area, took photos and videos. Children were not present outside during time of inspection. The metal gate is at least 5 feet high, does not obstruct view of the pool, gaps in gate and fence are no bigger than 4 inches. The gate has a self-close and a self-latching device which is located no more than 6 inches from the top of gate. However, it was observed the metal gate swings outward into the pool, and not away from the pool.
Extensive consultation on pool and water bodies regulations were provided and a copy of regulation printed out for Licensee. Licensee is reminded to stay in compliance with pool requirements moving forward; daycare children should not have access to the pool area without full adult supervision, 100% visual supervision must be always provided when children are present at the pool. Licensee states she has verbal permission from parents of their child to use the pool. She will get written permissions from parents as well.
The metal gate should to be altered to swing inward and away from the pool. Licensee shall submit corrections by July 9, 2024. No deficiency is cited but a Technical Violation/Advisory Note was issued. Exit interview conducted with Licensee, Sandy Bonnel. Notice of Site Visit was issued, must be posted for 30 days. |
