25 | On 07/31/2024 at 1:15 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christina Watts conducted a Case Management Inspection at La Petite Academy Inc. LPA met with Director, Lorna Hearn and explained the purpose of this inspection. During today's inspection, there were 27 preschool children in care with 8 staff. Director stated that 59 preschool children are enrolled. All staff caring and supervising children have Criminal Record Clearance.
LPA is following up on a self reported Unusual Incident. On 07/16/2024, around 10:15 AM, S1 and S2 were lining up the children on the play yard to transition to the classroom. S1 stated they counted the children in the front of the line and S2 finished counting the back of the line. S1 stated S2 finished counting and said to S1 "I'm good" S1 stated S1, S2 and children walked inside the facility and children were lined up against the blue wall. S1 stated they started to call out children's name. S1 called out C1's name and did not see C1. S1 stated they went back out on the play yard and seen C1. Interviews stated C1 was outside in playhouse. S1 states C1 did look a little sad but fine. S2 stated they checked C1's face and C1 looked fine. S2 stated they did a recount of children. S1 stated C1 was left alone for less than a couple minutes and S2 stated C1 was left alone for no more than 2 minutes. Per California Code of Regulations, a facility is required to have 100% supervision of children at all times and supervision does include visual supervision. The facility is in violation of California Code of Regulations, Title 22. LPA Christina Watts informed Director, Lorna Hearn that this report dated 07/31/2024 documents a Type B citation. Type B citation(s) are a potential risk(s) to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care.
