25 | On Wednesday, September 18, 2024 Centralized Application Bureau (CAB) Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) M. Domantay, Cherie Acosta, and Kareeca Sykes met with Applicant Rishu Khare for the purpose of a change of capacity increase to the preschool age program and room change to the license. Applicant requests a preschool age license to serve 132 preschool age children from ages 2 years to first grade entry. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The fire clearance was granted and approved on 4/18/2024 from the Contra Costa Country Fire Protection Department. The facility will provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child’s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted.
INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There are 6 preschool indoor areas: Classroom 1, Classroom 4, Classroom 5, Classroom 6, Classroom 8, and Classroom 9. LPAs observed sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, and chairs during today's inspection. LPAs observed a first aid kit in Classroom 9. Applicant will provide photos to LPA of Room 9 once classroom is set up appropriately with age appropriate furniture and equipment. Medications will be stored in in a locked cabinet in the Assistant Director's office. LPAs observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the facility, in each classroom. Per Applicant facility will utilize electronic sign-in/sign-out system.
LPA measured all Preschool age classrooms/areas. The total classroom space contains a total of 4712.44 square feet, which will accommodate Applicant's request for 132 preschool age children. There are 9 toilets and 10 sinks for the children, and a separate private restroom for the staff is located in the facility. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office area and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. Page 1 |
