25 | On September 26, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst, (LPA) M. Domantay met with Director, Katie Hamilton, for the purpose of an unannounced case management inspection to remeasure the indoor and outdoor preschool classrooms/areas. Facility is requesting to decrease preschool capacity from 82 to 64 children. Facility is removing a classroom from the preschool license. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The fire clearance was granted on 6/3/2024 by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department for 64 preschool children, ages 2 years to first grade entry.
INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There are 2 preschool areas designated for the preschool program: Classroom #1 and Classroom #3. Measurements were taken during today's inspection. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, mats, and chairs. LPA observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed a functional combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the Director's office. Preschool children have 7 toilets and 8 sinks. LPA observed an manual sign-in/sign-out system.
LPA measured preschool classrooms/areas, Classroom #1 and Classroom #3. The total classroom space contains a total of 2190.44 square feet, which will not accommodate Applicant's request for 64 preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024).
There is a separate private restroom for the staff located in the facility. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in Director's office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.
