25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Domantay and Melissa Guirit conducted a Prelicensing inspection today, November 12, 2021 for change of Ownership. LPAs met with Director, Kristina Nies and Inga Rosenthal. LPAs toured all areas of the facility for a health and safety inspection. There were 20 infants and 58 preschool children and 8 preschool teachers and 9 infant teachers at the time of this inspection. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm. There is a washer and dryer to launder bedding daily; facility provides sheets. Facility will utilize paper sign in/out. All measurements and rooms remain the same from previous ownership.
A fire clearance, with a total capacity of 147, was received from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department. A clearance for 30 infants, ages birth to 24 months and 117 preschoolers age 2 years to first grade entry.
LPAs observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. LPAs observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, furniture, and are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. The infant program will serve crib-aged infants in the infant center building. There is a separate crib area with 8 cribs for infants. The diaper changing counters are within arms reach of a sink. The infant play yard is fenced in all around and all climbing structures are cushioned with turf. LPAs observed outdoor play areas, they are fully fenced and have amply supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, and furniture. LPAs observed ample amount of shade for infants. There is a kitchen available.
The classroom has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector, and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPAs did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. Facility will be providing lunch and snacks for children, and facility will provide drinking water to children indoors and outdoors. The staff office and vacant classrooms will be used for ill children as the isolation area.
