Application Specialist (AS) Alecia Sifuentes, Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Mai Lor, and Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) Belinda DeVall met with Applicant Lita Reeves for the purpose of an announced pre-licensing continuation. Applicant requests a school-age license to serve 16 school-age children from first grade and above. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The fire clearance was received and granted on 5/5/2023.

INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There is one school-age classroom. AS used the school-age classroom measurements from report dated 7/19/2023. The total classroom space contains a total of 568 square feet, which will accommodate Applicant’s request for 16 school-age children. Bathroom #107 and #108 will be designated for the school-age children. There is one toilet and one sink located in bathroom #107 which is located inside preschool classroom two. Staff will visually supervise school-age children to and from the bathroom when utilizing it. Applicant understands that the school-age children must be provided privacy when utilizing the bathroom and cannot commingle with the preschool children. There is one toilet and one sink located in bathroom #108 which is located in the school-age classroom. Staff will utilize the shared bathroom #107 with the school-age children as stated in the waiver request. School-age children will be directly escorted to the school-age classroom as the entry is directly into preschool classroom one. There will be no commingling at any time.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There is one preschool/school-age outdoor area on the property which will be per waiver request. The outdoor play area is located across the plaza parking lot towards the left side facing the building. Prior to usage, staff will expect the outdoor area and to insure that it is safe, clean, and ready to use.

Staff will be designated in the front and back of the walking line when going to and from the outdoor space to the child care center. The outdoor play area is fenced with a wrought iron fence that is at least four feet tall and separates the preschool/school-age yard from the infant yard. AS used the outdoor area measurements from report dated 7/19/2023. The outdoor play area contains a total of 5,089 square feet, which will accommodate Applicant's request for 16 school-age children.

Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

Effective today, 7/28/2023, AS will license the facility to serve 16 school-age children enrolled in first grade and above.
