25 | On 11/10/2022 at 9:05 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christina Watts conducted an unannounced annual inspection for Gail McGinnis's small family child care home. LPA met with licensee and guided analyst on a tour of the facility. During today's inspection, there were 5 children in care with 2 staff who are fingerprint cleared and 9 children enrolled. Family members residing in the home are licensee and licensee two minor children ages 17 and 14. Facility hours of operations are Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
This is a one story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, family room, attached garage, laundry room, backyard with an locked shed.
The children on limits areas: Family Room, bedroom, bathroom and backyard with locked shed.
Areas off limits include: Master bedroom, master bathroom, 2 bedrooms, kitchen living room, right side of the backyard, laundry room and attached garage.
The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit.
Per licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. Licensee has an up to code 2A10BC fire extinguisher and working smoke/carbon monoxide detector on the premises. LPA observed a fireplace in the family room which is made inaccessible to children in care. Licensee last conducted fire drill 06/28/2022. Licensee stated there are no pets in the home.
LPA inspected the backyard and observed age appropriate toys for children to play with. The backyard is fully fenced with no defects in fence. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. LPA discussed with licensee that there needs to be 100% supervision when children are playing in the backyard.
Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has an Identification and Emergency form. The licensee Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate will expire in 06/2023. Required postings were observed near the entrance.
