32 | There are two classrooms: K2 and K3. During today’s inspection, LPA observed the following items:
1) Climbing structure has cracks in the blue coating on the steps and on the bridge.
2) Blue picnic table is bent and the blue surface coating is cracked, allowing for rust.
3) The yellow building across from as the following issues:
a) Exterior wall with base board torn, with jagged edges and protruding nails.
b) Water down pour spouts are bent and sharp.
c) Paint is chipping off from the exterior baseboards.
d) Next to two of the water drains, the base board looks to be corroding.
e) Above the grates, the exterior wall is curling upwards and there is a square hole.
f) On one side of the yellow building, there is a loose base board that is not nailed to the wall.
4) There is paint chipping in both classrooms.
5) AC vents in both classrooms are dirty.
6) The children’s restroom nearest to classroom K3 flooded, causing the vinyl floor tiles to lift. One tile has a hole and one tile is dirty. LPA was informed that the children’s restroom nearest to K3 flooded. This is the cause for the lifting floor tiles. LPA observed a chipped tile in classroom K3.
7) The classrooms' rugs are lifting and can be considered a tripping hazard.
Ms. Yang was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption.
Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present when children are at the facility or at offsite activities. FUSD - Birney has a fully-qualified teacher designated to act in the director’s absence has been reported to the Department.
