On 11/18/2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Candis Rodriguez conducted a Case Management - COVID-19 inspection at facility. LPA met with Director Taryn McKelvey, explained purpose of inspection, toured facility and took a census.

LPA observed three classrooms, Rooms 1, 2, and 4 with children awake and quietly watching videos. LPA observed some children to be wearing masks and other children not wearing masks. LPA observed classrooms 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 all to be napping. Children do not wear masks during nap time as it is a safety hazard. LPA observed all teachers and staff to be wearing masks as required. LPA observed a parent leaving the facility wearing a mask.

LPA interviewed Director and discussed COVID-19 mitigation procedures. Director advised facility screens children upon arrival, including taking their temperature with a digital thermometer, and visually assessing them for any symptoms. Director stated facility also monitors children through out the day to check for symptoms or behavior changes that might suggest not feeling well. Director stated if they assess a child who may be showing symptoms, the parent is called to pick up child immediately.

Director stated facility reports all positives to Department of Public Health and Community Care Licensing as required. Director stated Department of Public Health advises facility who is considered a close contact by asking questions about when symptoms started and when positive person was last at facility. Facility advises parents and staff as necessary if determined others in the facility were exposed.

Director stated facility requires all children, staff, parents, and other visitors to wear a mask in the facility. Director stated some of the children have a hard time but facility continues to work with them on a daily basis.

Director stated facility is cleaned on daily basis. All cleaning materials are kept inaccessible to children. Director stated once a week the facility is deep cleaned and sanitized with a special machine that utilizes a non-toxic cleaning agent.

LPA advised Director to contact Department of Public Health for advisement when a child or staff member shows signs of COVID-19 related symptoms, not just when a person tests positive, to mitigate the possible spread of COVID-19. LPA also advised Director to continue working with children who have trouble with mask wearing. LPA advised facility to continue taking precautions such as hand washing, cleaning, and disinfecting as required.

Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, no deficiency cited during today’s inspection. Exit interview conducted with Director Taryn McKelvey.
