25 | On 04/24/2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Julie Baptista conducted an unannounced case management visit. LPA was met by office manager and staff 1. The infant center has reported two cases of hand, foot and mouth disease as of 4/18/2023. On 4/19/23 the infant center called Community Care Licensing to report additional confirmed cases of Hand Foot Mouth to total seven children.
Parents were notified and children with symptoms were picked up by parents/guardians on 4/18 and 4/19.
On 4/24/23 LPA toured the infant center and took a census. LPA interviewed staff and it was reported that the facility called the local health department on 4/20/23. Per the staff interview, the health department stated they could remain open at this time. All children who displayed symptoms were sent home. A deep cleaning was performed in all infant class rooms. Additional deep cleaning was performed as per facility's Closing procedures each evening. Staff also informed they washed all blankets and sheets when facility first reported children with symptoms and did additional washings as needed and at the end of the week as per facility's procedures.
Facility is requiring parents to provide a doctor's note before children return to care. Facility is requiring that siblings of infected children remain home until infected child is cleared for return to day care by doctor's note.
The center followed Health Department procedures for disinfecting and sanitizing the classroom.
Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, There is no deficiency cited. Exit interview was conducted with office manager and director.
