25 | On June 3, 2022, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Cynthia Brannon, Joe Pacheco and Licensing Program Manager Michael Duarte, conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection and met with Center Director, Maria Isabel Marmolejo. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. This is a new facility and the applicant is requesting 80 preschool children ages 2-6 years old. This program will operate year-round. This facility will provide three part time options: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, no napping, 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 12:30 to 4:00 PM. This program will operate in four classrooms. Parents will bring their children to their classroom. Staff will conduct temperature checks when children arrive in the classroom. Center Director, Maria Isabel Marmolejo, stated that staff and children use masks while indoors.
Center Director, Maria Isabel Marmolejo, stated that the center will provide a morning snack, & afternoon snack, breakfast and lunch. Lunch will be provided by main kitchen. There is a kitchen on site. The half door leading into the kitchen is locked. The knives and sharp utensils are stored in the counter and some cleaning items are stored underneath the kitchen sink. Staff will utilize the staff bathroom that's by staff offices. Ill children will be isolated in center director’s office and utilize the staff bathroom.
The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. There are enough tables, chairs, and plenty of toys for children to play. LPA also reminded center director to not store anything on top of high bookcases that could potentially fall on children. There is a working carbon monoxide detector in classrooms.
LPA reviewed with Center Director, Maria Isabel Marmolejo, that any future changes to the classrooms are required to be inspected to ensure that furniture does not tip over on to children, the furniture are to be anchored or situated so that tipping does not occur. Classroom changes of furniture shall be situated that 100% visual supervision is always provided to children in care.
