On 8/7/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection and met with Applicant, Kristin Peterson. LPA reviewed the reason for the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located at 5590 N. Grantland Ave. Fresno, CA 93723. The applicant is requesting a license for 85 preschool children ages 2-6. This facility does not provide a Toddler option program. This program will operate year-round. This facility will provide full-time and part-time options from 6:30am – 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. This program will operate in six classrooms in one building. Applicant is aware to contact the Fresno Community Care Licensing Regional Office for a change in classrooms and/or change in capacity. Parents will take their children to the classroom and staff will conduct the daily health check. Applicant stated that facility will provide lunch and AM and PM snack. Staff will utilize the two staff bathrooms in the hallway. Ill children will be isolated at the receptionist desk and utilize the staff bathrooms. The classrooms were observed to be free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. The shelving units are anchored to prevent tipping onto children in care. There are enough tables, cubbies, chairs, mats and plenty of toys for children to play with. LPA also reminded Applicant to not store anything on top of high shelving units that could potentially fall on children. There are working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors on the premises.
LPA reviewed with Applicant, Kristin Peterson, that any future changes to the classrooms are required to ensure that furniture does not tip over on to children, the furniture are to be anchored or situated that tipping does not occur. Classroom changes of furniture shall be situated that 100% visual supervision is always provided to children in care. The children’s bathroom is located in the hallway. Applicant understands children are to be escorted to and from the bathroom to maintain visual supervision.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Applicant, Kristin Peterson. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 2,975 square feet which will accommodate 85 preschool children.
There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings in the classroom. Applicant understands that children's equipment needs to match the capacity she is licensed for. Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate.
