On 4/4/24 at 8:30 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Joseph Pacheco conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection for a new license. Upon arrival, LPA met with Applicant, Kristin Peterson. Also present was Director, Jazmin Serrano. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 85 preschoolers ages 2-6 in classrooms 1 through 6. Hours of operation will be Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 6:00 pm.
All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Applicant that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. When medications are on site, Applicant stated that they will be in a locked box in the child’s classroom. A fully equipped first aid kit is located in the front office. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector on site located in the entry hallway. All required licensing documents were observed posted in the entry hallway. Children will be signed in and out at the front desk.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured to an approximate 2,985 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate the requested overall capacity of 85 preschool children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in classrooms 1, 2, 5 and 6 via a water fountain. LPA observed a water pitcher with paper cups in classrooms 3 and 4. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on March 18, 2024 by the City of Clovis Fire Department.
LPA observed a total of 12 sinks and 6 toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested overall capacity of 85 preschool children. There are two separate staff restrooms each equipped with a toilet and a sink. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the Director’s office and these children will use one of the two staff bathrooms located between classrooms 2 and 3.
Facility will provide lunch, an AM snack and a PM snack. The kitchen area currently includes a freezer, refrigerator and sink. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed to be free of rodents and/or vermin. Food was observed to be properly stored separate from cleaning materials.
