25 | On 02/21/2023 at 2:30 PM, an annual inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kiriko Lynch. At 2:30 PM the home was toured inside and outside. The facility representative and assistant were supervising six children and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. The facility’s operating hours are currently 8 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The off-limits areas of the home are currently fenced side yard, backyard and outbuildings, and are made inaccessible by gates, fencing, latches, locks. The children use the front yard area as the main outdoor play area and it is fully fenced. The house utilizes a wall furnace and it is barricaded. There is a seasonal pond in the side yard and it is currently full. The pond area is fenced, and licensee also has a waiver on file for door alarms and the terms of the waiver are being met.
Five children’s files were reviewed at 3:30 PM. Two staff files were also reviewed at 3:30 PM.
The facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
