25 | On 10/7/22 at 9:35am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of a capacity increase. Upon arrival, LPA met with Program Director, Wendy Marquez and was led on a tour of the facility. There were 68 children and 18 staff members present. The facility is requesting a capacity increase to 264 preschool children (age 2-5 years) in rooms 1 through 17 and 19 through 24; a total of 23 classrooms. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm.
Classrooms 1 – 17 and 19 – 24 were inspected and measured a total of 13,975.25 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 399 children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 264. Classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture, napping equipment, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves and other materials for children. The facility has a total of 26 toilets, 4 urinals and 77 sinks which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity.
The outdoor activity space was inspected and measured a total of 7,783.27 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 103 children. There is no high climbing equipment in the outdoor activity space at this time. The outdoor activity space is equipped with tricycles, balls, easels and paint, tables and other equipment for children. The outdoor activity space is fully fenced and includes a building awning for shade. LPA discussed proper supervision and placement of staff in the outdoor space to ensure children are supervised at all times. Multi-purpose rooms A & B, which will be utilized exclusively for indoor large motor activity, were inspected and measured a total of 2,043.52 square feet. Multi-purpose rooms A & B are equipped with tricycles, balls, easels and paint, building blocks and other equipment for children. There is a total of 9826.79 square feet available for large motor activities indoors and outdoors. Program Director stated the facility will submit a waiver request to utilize Multi-purpose rooms A & B for indoor large motor activities and the outdoor activity space on a scheduled basis due to a lack of outdoor space to accommodate the requested capacity of 264.
