On 5/8/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Carol Heath initiated a complaint investigation at the Discovery Point Kidz – Early Learning Center and met with the Director, Shanna Johnson. The purpose of the inspection is to inform the Director that an investigation is being conducted regarding the above allegation.
During today’s visit, there were 15 children with the 3 teachers and Director (See Confidential Names from LIC 811). LPA was able to interview the director, teacher #1, and other related parties. LPA also observed and reviewed the teacher’s file.

LPA obtained a copy of the facility roster.

Based on interviews, observation, and file review, it was determined that Teacher #3 and Teacher #4 do not have any units. However, according to Director Shanna, teachers #3 and teacher #4 do not supervise children alone. The center has 3 qualified teachers and 1 qualified director.

Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the teacher aides are providing the care and supervision by herself; therefore, the above allegations are unsubstantiated.
No deficiency was cited during this visit.
An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of the report and appeal was left with the Director, Shanna Johnson.
