25 | On May 7, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Paul Garcia conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPA Garcia met with licensee Karen Atriano. A census was taken, and LPA toured the facility inside and outside. This visit was initiated by Karen. The purpose for the visit was to determine if multiple recently added concrete slabs located in the backyard play area is safe for children in care. The purpose for the addition of the concrete was to expand the play area for the children.
The backyard play yard has been off limits from June 22, 2023, to May 7, 2024.
On June 22, 2023, LPA informed Karen during the duration of the construction, she shall provide increased supervision of the children while workers are present at the home and that the back yard shall be off limits to children until LPA inspects the area after construction has been completed. LPA also informed licensee that children shall not have any contact with members of the work crew.
Licensee contacted LPA Garcia on May 1, 2024, telephonically on his state issued cell phone. Karen informed LPA that the construction of the outdoor back yard play area has been completed and she requested a visit to deny or approve the new area for use by the children.
LPA inspected the backyard play area and observed an age-appropriate play tunnel, new bikes and toys. The newly added concrete slabs are smooth and pose no immediate nor potential risk to children. LPA APPROVES the area. LPA will obtain a new facility sketch to include the new dimensions of the outdoor play area. Children can now use/play on the much larger area effective immediately.
Per Chapter 3, Division 12, Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations no deficiencies are observed today.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
