25 | An inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Sebastian Phouthavong. LPA met with Licensee, Nahani Bohan. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. There are currently two adults living in the home.
During the inspection the home was toured inside and outside. The licensee and assistant were supervising 10 children and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. The facility’s operating hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The children will have access to childcare section of the home including, the living room, kitchen, one bedroom, bathroom, and side yard. The off-limits areas of the home include the entire right side of the home to include the garage, and back yard. The off-limits areas of the home were made inaccessible by door locks, plastic doorknob covers and/or child gates. The home appears to be clean and orderly and was at a comfortable indoor temperature. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. There is a working telephone in the home. The licensee’s pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications were reviewed and expire on 07/2025. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Licensee stated firearms are stored in the off-limits section of the main home in a locked in a safe, separately from the ammunition. Licensee stated there are no poisons stored on the premises and none were observed during today's inspection. The regulation that poisons are to be locked using a key or combination lock was reviewed. LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The roster of children in care was reviewed and was current. The licensee has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months; last drill was documented on 06/2024. The home's yard is fully fenced. There was pool in the off-limits area, meeting requirements. Six children's records were reviewed at 09:49AM.
