25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with Diana Urteaga, Director, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. This facility is located on the grounds of La Canada Presbyterian Church.
This infant program consists of 2 classrooms (younger Infant room and older Infant room). At approximately 11:30 AM, Licensing staff was provided a tour of the facility. Licensing staff observed 4 infants and 2 staff present in the activity area of the younger infant room and 1 infant napping with 1 staff member in the napping area. There were 12 children and 3 staff present in the older infant room. Licensing staff observed the facility to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Napping equipment was observed in form of cribs and cots. Children's linens for the infant program are to be washed or replaced daily. There are age appropriate toys and supplies for children in the classroom, in good repair. There is a changing table within arm's reach of a sink located in both classrooms. LPA observed it to be clean. The facility was observed to have diapers and wipes available in each classroom near the changing table. Drinking water is available in form of personal water bottles that are also taken outside when needed. At this time, the Director's Office is used as an isolation area. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted.
The facility provides AM and PM snacks. The parents provide formula and lunches for the children. All kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements. The facility takes measures to keep the facility free of flies, other insects and rodents.
