25 | On August 12, 2024, at 11:30 am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Elka Chavez and Tiffanie Tran conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Facility Representative Lorreta Gallegos. Applicant Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District is requesting to be licensed for 120 preschoolers 3 to 5 years old in classrooms 1,2,3,4,6 and 21. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. There were no children present during today’s inspection. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPAs informed Loretta Gallegos that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
LPAs continued to tour the facility and measured indoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured 4387.45 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 120 children. LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via water from the sink. LPAs observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on August 07, 2024.
LPA observed a total of 11 sinks and 11 toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 120 children. There is a waiver on file dated August 30, 2022, which allows children in classroom 21 to share the restroom with children enrolled in the special day classroom (SDC), transitional kindergarten and kindergarten classroom from the elementary school. |
