32 | Storage for children's belongings were inspected. Napping equipment (mats/cots) and bedding were inspected for good condition, appropriate storage, and cleanliness. Children take their blankets home to wash weekly. LPA observed 2 toilets and 1 sink in the preschool classrooms, and 2 toilets, 1 sink and a changing table in the toddler room. All toilets and washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. First Aid supplies are available and complete. LPA observed a kitchenette in between classroom A/B. Drinking water was readily available indoors A water filter dispenser was observed in Rooms A/B and a water jug was observed in the toddler room. At this time, each classroom has a cozy corner designated as an isolation area, for an ill child to rest and a separate restroom will be used if needed.
Licensing staff observed all required forms/publications to be posted on the parent board outside of the classrooms and in front entrance of the classrooms. Food menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted one week in advance where it is visible by the child's authorized representative. Menus for the past 30 days are available upon request. Facility provides breakfast, lunch and pm snacks for all children in attendance. Bassett High School transport meals to the facility. All storage containers for solid waste, including movable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
Licensing staff observed the valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 07/07/2025 as indicated on service tag. Per State Fire Marshall standards, fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually. Facility has functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detector that meets statutory requirements. Director states there are no weapons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises. The last Disaster drills was conducted in February 2026. Reminded director disaster drills must be conducted at least every six months. Per Program Director, all programs conduct disaster drills monthly.
At 9:05am, licensing staff inspected the outdoor play areas for the Preschool/Headstart and the Early Head Start/toddler. The playgrounds equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Drinking water is readily available outdoors. The Director states that there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during this visit.
