32 | Children use the playground which is adjacent to the elementary school (field area). Children can also use the hard top area located right outside the portable. The playground includes a grassy field and hard top area where children can engage in sports and social play.
Menus were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. The program offers an afternoon snack. Snacks are provided by the school district which follow mandated Federal Food Guidelines. Meal menus, license, car seat law, parents' rights for centers, emergency disaster plan and all other posting requirements were observed.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Staff was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Per waiver agreement on file for Options, employee and children's records will be reviewed during a collateral visit to Options Surround Care Main Office located at 304 S. 1st Street Alhambra, CA 91801. Confidential names list will be provided at the time of the records review.
