25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above facility on 03/05/25 at 02:35 p.m. LPA met with director Irene Lopez who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. This is a preschool age program licensed for 45 children which operates Monday – Friday from 07:00 a.m. – 05:30 p.m. Per the director, there are 0 children enrolled.
According to the director, the facility has been closed since 03/17/2020. LPA consulted with the director on possibly going on an Inactive status since no children have been enrolled since 2020; however, the licensee would like to remain on active status.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. The facility consists of three classrooms, kitchen, children’s bathrooms, and backyard (fenced). LPA observed the facility to be clean, sanitary and in good repair. Indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Children will nap on mats. Drinking water will be readily available indoors and outdoors via water jugs and disposable cups. Staff will take a water jug with disposable cups while outdoors. LPA observed all children will have their own cubby. LPA observed the children’s bathroom is safe and in sanitary conditions. At this time, the "office" is used as an isolation area. A cot is available for an ill child to rest on. LPA toured the kitchen and observed a stove, refrigerator with meals, and dry snacks. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children are inaccessible. Facility has storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans that will be used to discard food have tight fitting lids. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
LPA observed all required forms/publications to be posted in the entrance of the facility. Though the facility is not operating, LPA observed the snack menu visible to an authorized representative. Director states there are no weapons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises.
