25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Seung Lee and Mariah Aguirre conducted an unannounced annual random inspection. Upon arrival LPAs Lee met with administrator Christina Salazar and Director Fiona Emersley who provided a tour of the facility. The following was observed. This facility is a preschool program which consists of five (4) classrooms, and days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Adequate lighting and ventilation were observed in each classroom. Napping equipment and bedding were inspected for good condition, appropriate storage and cleanliness. Each child has a fold-up blanket, which is taken home at the end of the week. Storage for children's belongings was inspected. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPAs observed trash cans with tight fitting lids.
Snack menus were reviewed. Snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. Children bring their own lunch and snacks. AM snacks is provided by the facility. The children bring their own personal water bottles. The personal bottles are filled from a dispenser in the Kitchen. The children bring their water from indoors outside during outside play time.
At this time, the room adjacent to the office is used as an isolation area for ill children. There is a small couch available for ill children to use and the children will use the staff restroom.
