Personal Rights- Staff hit a child.

On 7/19/24, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), V. Wheatley and Devon Carus conducted an investigation regarding the above allegations. LPAs met with Director Rosie Abernathy and toured the facility and obtained a census of the number of children present. LPAs observed the staff supervising the children within proper ratios.

LPA Wheatley and Carus interviewed children. Based on information obtained the allegation is valid and the finding is Substantiated. A substantiated finding means that the complaint is substantiated and the allegation is valid because the preponderance of the evidence standard has been met. A teacher Staff #1 was observed hitting a day care child. This is a Type A violation. The director has submitted a copy of LiC 624 (Unusual Incident) report to Community Care Licensing Division.

Exit interview conducted. A copy of the report was provided.

The Staff #1 was terminated on July 16, 2024.
The director will meet with the Staff and conduct a Staff training regarding children's personal rights. The director also will have the staff review the CCL videos. The director will submit a Plan of Correction to the Department by 7/22/24.

This requirement was not met as evidence by: Based on information obtained and interviews which were conducted with children, S1 was observed hitting a child in care. This is an immediate health and safety risk to children in care.
