25 | On 07/15/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Staicy Perry conducted an unannounced Annual inspection to the above facility. LPA was delayed due to Department of Water and Power working on the street and street was closed off to traffic. LPA requested to gain access to street for an inspection and was approved to come in by DWP workers. LPA was greeted by Irene Guzman, licensee to whom the reason for the visit was explained. Per Licensee, there are 11 children currently enrolled. There were 4 children, and 1 adult present in the home upon arrival. Facility capacity is in compliance for a Large Family Child Care Home. Per Licensee hours of operation are 23 hours a day 7 days a week.
This is a one-story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, utility room, day care room and front and back yards(fenced). The children use the bathroom next to the day care room, one bedroom, the day care room and the front yard for play. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 2 bedrooms, utility room, living room and kitchen. Family members residing in the home are 2 adults (criminal record clearances on file) and one minor. There are no pets in the home.
LPA observed the following required posted documentation in the main entry way of the facility: Facility License, Publication (PUB) 394- Notification of Parent Rights and Licensing Form (LIC) 9148- Earthquake Preparedness form. LPA reviewed facility records for LIC 9040- Facility Roster, LIC 610- Facility Disaster Plan. Children's roster was reviewed and is current.
During this visit, all areas identified that are accessible for children to use were inspected for the safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Licensee guided LPA on the tour of the home. Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. LPA observed central AC and heating. Temperature was observed to be at 74 degrees. There are toys and other age-appropriate materials available for children. The bathroom was reviewed, LPA did not observe anything that can pose danger to the children in care. The kitchen was observed to be clean and organized. Knifes were seen to be placed in the kitchen and is made inaccessible to the children. The day care room was observed to be clean and orderly plenty of age-appropriate toys for the children to use. LPA observed cubbies to hold the children’s personal belongings. The day care room had a diaper changing station. The bedroom is used as an isolation area for an ill child until an authorized representative arrives to pick up the child. All equipment meets the US Consumer Product Safety Commission safety standards. Licensee had latches on cabinets with any potentially hazardous/dangerous material. Telephone service is maintained in the home via a cell phone. |
