32 | The children's roster was available and current. There is a separate area for isolation and care of ill children in the back office. There is a cot available for each ill child. An isolated toilet and sink are available for ill children. Napping equipment and bedding was inspected for good condition, appropriate storage and cleanliness. LPA observed cots available for each child. Cots are being sanitized once a week. Bedding is stored separately. Napping children are properly supervised within ratios. Center has devised an Incidental Medical Service plan to provide to parents of children with allergies (epi-pen) and asthmatic (inhalers). Staff is trained and the parents demonstrate how the medication is to be given to their child. LPA reviewed the children's medications 5 of 6 of the medications were expired.
The facility has a swimming pool. The pool is fenced per regulation. The fence is 6 ft high and does not obscure the pool from view. The pool has 2 gates which are self-latching, self-closing and opens away from the swimming pool. The Self-latching device is located 9 inches from the top of one of the gate and 19 inches from the top of the other gate. The center is correcting the latches today. The pool fence also has pad locks that needs a key to be opened. Fence is in good repair and completely surrounds the pool. Fencing is thick enough that it cannot easily be broken, removed or stretched by children. The Fence is designed and installed so children could not remove any portion of it and it not easily climbable by children, with no window or door to provide direct access to the pool. The opening between railing is 2.3/inches. The bottom of fence is no more than 2 inches from the ground. The Chain link fence has no opening larger than 1 ¾ inch diameter (golf ball). LPA observed a 17' US coast guard life ring and a 12 foot rescue pole with body hook.
The facility is equipped with a working smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors. LPA observed fire extinguishers located throughout the facility with service date of 7/30/24. First Aid Kit was observed to be complete. Fire Drill log was observed to be complete and current.
The name of the childcare center director or fully qualified teacher designated to act in the director’s absence has been reported to the Department. Staff records were reviewed to ensure the following: Criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption, education credits required, current CPR/First Aid and health preventative practices, proof of immunization against pertussis and measles and influenza and/or flu declination, and Mandated Reporter training.
