On 7/12/2022 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Doris Whitmore conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection for the Preschool License. LPA met with Center Director, Lauren Cherrington. LPA inspected and toured the inside and outside of the facility. Pre School has an infant program that will be inspected today. Days and Hours of Operation are Monday- Friday 7:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. All required Documents were posted on the Board.

A total of 25 children (ages 2 to 5 years old) and 4 teachers were present during the inspection. LPA observed children in three separate classrooms The Jelly Fish Classroom, The Guppies Classroom, The Minnows Classroom LPA observed children engaging in different activities and Outdoor Activities. LPA observed age appropriate toys, learning materials and activities for children in care. Naptime is from 1:00 p.m.to 3:00 p.m. LPA observed cots with sheets for napping.

Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair in each classroom. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed individual cubbies for children's belongings in the classroom. The facility uses the director’s office as an isolation area when children are sick. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. LPA observed one bathroom outside of the preschool classroom. Toilet paper, paper towels were observed inside the restroom. First Aid supplies, and fire extinguishers were observed. There is one Fire Extinguisher that was a 3 A 40 BC in the Classroom. The other Fire Extinguisher was a 2-A;10BC located in the kitchen. Parents use an APP Bright Wheel for signing their children in and out.

The center does not provide lunch for the children. Parents are responsible for providing lunch daily for their children. Children have an AM Snack and a PM Snack. LPA observed all snacks in individual airtight containers. Preschool provides two snacks Monday through Friday. All snack menus are posted and up to date. Water is available for the children.

Children bring their own water bottles that are labeled with their individual names on them. Kitchen is inaccessible to the children. The kitchen was inspected all food preparation and storage areas were clean.
LPA reviewed a total of 10 children files Children's files were complete with all required CCLD forms. LPA reviewed 10 staff files all files had required documentation. The facility roster was up to date and all staff have been fingerprinted and associated to the designated license number. Director and teachers are currently certified in pediatric first aid and CPR which expires on 11/2023. All Staff were current with their Mandated and Reporter Training 5/21/22 and is good for two years.

There were no bodies of water observed in the playground area. The outdoor playground was inspected and was observed to be free of hazards, loose and sharp parts. LPA did observe adequate shade. The playground was observed to be properly gated all around. Equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed age appropriate slides and play equipment for active play.




Incidental Medical Services were discussed Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Incidental Medical Services Include: Blood-Glucose Monitoring for Diabetic Children, Administering Inhaled Medication, Administering EpiPen Jr. and EpiPen or other Epinephrine Auto-Injectors, Glucagon Administration, Gastrostomy Tube Care (G-tube care), Insulin Injections Administration, Anti-Seizure Administration, and Emptying an Ileostomy Bag.


LPA reminded the Director as well as anyone who assists in providing care. Director was advised to train the backup up in the event she is absent on how to access quarterly reports, forms, and regulations for Child Care online at www.ccld.ca.gov. Director was also encouraged to read the Child Care quarterly updates every season as the come out to stay informed of the updates.

Mandated Reporter: Beginning on January 1, 2018, AB 1207, requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete General and Child Care Mandated Reporter training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. Volunteers are encouraged but not required to take the training. The OCAP modules are free of cost and available at: http://www.mandatedreporterca.com/

LPA Whitmore shared with the Director the following PINS 22-03, 22-04,22-12,22-06 21-21&22-20. The facility was operating in substantial compliance during this inspection on 07/12/2022. There were no Title 22 Deficiencies cited. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report (LIC 809), Notice of Site Visit, along with appeal rights were given to the Director Lauren Cherrington whose signature confirms today's inspection and report.
