25 | On 11/12/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Devon Carus and Veronica Wheatley arrived at the facility to conduct a Plan of Correction visit and was met by Licensee Sheila Hatcher. LPAs observed 12 children (7 napping, and 5 school age) being supervised and cared for by licensee, and 2 assistants. One child arrived via school bus during the inspection bringing the census to 13. The purpose of the visit is to follow up on the results of the annual inspection conducted by LPA Wheatley on 11/5/2024.
On 11/5/2024, Licensee was cited for the following:
Over Capacity ( Type A Violation )
Fire extinguisher not meeting minimum size requirements (Type B Violation)
During the visit LPAs Carus and Wheatley observed the following:
The facility operating within proper capacity regarding ratios.
A charged fire extinguisher that meets compliance standards for family child care homes. (model 2A-10BC)
However, in the children's restroom, there was a cabinet under the sink that contained bleach and other cleaning chemicals. Though there was a lock on the handles to this cabinet, LPA Carus observed the lock disconnected, but still in its correct position during the visit. Due to the nature of this type of lock, a technical violation was issued, and the licensee was reminded of the importance of keeping all child proof safety locks in place during day care hours.
An exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report, notice of site visit, and plan of correction letters were discussed and provided to Licensee. |
