On 05/07/2024 at 9:30AM. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrew Alemoh were greeted by above facility’s Director Jacqeueline Major. LPA was at the facility to conduct an unannounced random annual inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the visit and was granted entry to the facility by Director, who also guided LPA on a tour of the facility.

The facility's hours of operation Monday through Friday from 7AM to 6PM. The facility provides snacks and optional hot meals which are provided through the School Day Cafe. Per the Director, the facility does not transport any preschool children in care.

For preschool care, the facility uses the Alligator Room and Lamb Room which are identified as Alligator Front, Alligator Back, Lamb Front, and Lamb Back as they are divided by a moveable wall. Per the Director, these walls are always in place, dividing the two sections of these classrooms. The facility also uses the Bunny Room, Penguin Room, Bear Room, and the Duck Room.

Furniture and equipment were inspected for operable conditions and age appropriateness. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed individual storage for children's belongings. All kitchen areas are off-limits, kitchen area was adequately equipped, clean, and free from hazards (Bunny room had a safety gate barricading the kitchen area). The kitchen has a sink, refrigerator, and freezer. Menu was posted, dated, and accessible for parent’s review. The facility's food allergy list is posted inside of each classroom. Children are provided with cots for nap time, and bedding is brought from home.

Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected. Toilets flush properly; toilets and sinks are reachable by the children. LPA inspected and observed a total of 10 toilets, 20 sinks, and two urinals, all of which were in operable condition and met the Title 22 requirements. Director stated staff had a separate restroom which was inaccessible to children, and located to the left of the Director's office.

The outdoor play areas were inspected and found to be free of hazards, loose, or sharp objects. Equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, conditions and age appropriateness. Climbing structures, slides, and play equipment were found to be securely anchored with resilient cushioning material underneath and around the perimeter. Children have access to water by bringing their own water bottles to the facility. The playgrounds are fenced all around, and no bodies of water were observed in the outdoor play areas. The playground areas also have a shaded rest area for the children in care.

First Aid supplies, sprinkler system, as well as cameras are in each classroom, carbon monoxide and fire extinguishers were observed and in operable condition. Fire extinguisher (2A10BC) located in all the rooms and the meter was in the green zone. Trash cans with tight lids were observed. LPA observed a First Aid bag located inside all the classrooms in the storage cabinets. Per director no children are on medications, however if applicable medications are stored inside of a tool box located in the staff/isolation restroom.



Children files were reviewed and found to be complete. The facility's fire drills and sign in/out sheets were found to be complete. The facility Director has a current CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification, which expires on 07/2025 . Mandated Reporter expires on 04/26 During the inspection LPA observed adequate teacher child ratio in each classroom. The parent board was reviewed and had all of the required forms posted and accessible to parents.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Beginning on January 1, 2018, Assembly Bill 1207 (2015) requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. Applicants must meet requirements as a precondition to licensure. New employees shall have 90 days from date of employment to complete training as required. The training may be conducted at the following website www.mandatedreporterca.com

The following was discussed with the Director:


Smoking is prohibited on the premises of a child care center; Infant walkers, baby jumpers, exersaucers, baby rockers and any other item that falls into that category are prohibited; Earthquake safety and necessity of drills are to be conducted every 6 months and logged Fire Drill was conducted on: 04/30/2024; Required forms for children’s files, facility files, staff files, and posting requirements; Fingerprint clearances and the transfer process.

The above facility is in compliance per Title 22 Regulations, and no deficiencies were cited during today’s inspection.
