25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lilia Hernandez conducted an unannounced case management inspection on 09/10/2024 due to an incident that occurred at the facility on 09/09/2024. LPA arrived at the facility at 9:15AM and met with Lizette Lopez-Avila, Principal. There were 4 children and 2 staff present upon arrival.
LPA observed a notification on the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) social media page on 09/09/2024 that stated the facility was placed on a minimum day schedule due to extreme heat weather issues.
During the inspection, Principal stated that Room 30 is located in the building that was affected by the one unit air conditioning system that was not providing cool air to the entire building. For health and safety reasons, facility dismissed children from care due to air conditioning unit not operating strong enough to cool Room 30. Outdoor temperatures were over 100 degrees due to heat wave. The entire elementary school was placed on a minimum day schedule and children were dismissed from care at 12:33pm.
LPA observed children back in care today. Room 30 air conditioning system was operating. LPA also observed portable air conditioning units in the classroom.
LPA reviewed reporting requirements with Principal and staff. LPA also provided resources regarding reporting requirements.
There were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection.
The Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative.
Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with Lizette Lopez-Avila, Principal. |
