32 | The outdoor playground has age appropriate toys and equipment with padded flooring to absorb impact of falls. There are two large shades installed to shield children from the sun as well as a large avocado tree that provides shade to a large part of the yard. Children were observed in the backyard for approximately one hour with more than enough space to play and exercise. There were no dangers/hazards observed in the backyard playground. There is a tool shed and storage structure in the backyard which remain locked and inaccessible to children. Behind the structure, there is more storage for landscaping/home maintenance items which is gated and inaccessible to children.
The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. The First Aid Kit was observed and complete. Per LIS the facility annual fees are current. The facility roster was observed, and current. There are age appropriate toys and napping equipment on the premises. The required fire extinguisher (2A-10BC) was purchased needs to be serviced/purchased within 1 year. Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors were in operable condition. Facility provides daily meals and snacks for the children.
Children’s records were reviewed for (LIC) 282- Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance, Immunizations Records, LIC 700- Identification and Emergency Information, LIC 627- Consent for Medical Treatment, LIC 995A Notification of Parents’ Rights.
Staff records were reviewed for approved Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, LIC 508-Criminal Record Statement, LIC 9052- Employee Rights, Proof of immunizations against measles, pertussis and influenza or influenza declination, TB clearance or risk assessment, LIC 9108- Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse and current Mandated Reporter Training Certificate. During file review, LPA observed all staff had complete files, required vaccinations and CPR certification. Licensee's file observed to be complete. Due to language barrier, licensee's son has current mandated reporter training which was accepted in lieu of licensee.
During inspection all children were observed to be treated with dignity and respect, they were observed to be receiving safe, healthful, and comfortable accommodations, furnishings and equipment, and free from corporal and/or unusual punishment.
