25 | On Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 12:40pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Evelyn Garcia conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with licensee Alma Estrella who guided LPA Garcia on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival LPA observed 4 children present napping. Family members residing in the home (licensee, 2 adult children) have been discussed with licensee and are cleared. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and care for children ages 0-12 years old.
This facility is a single-story home that consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, laundry room, bonus room (daycare) and back yard fenced.
Areas off limits to children include- All bedrooms, kitchen, laundry room, and front yard. Areas accessible to children include the bonus room (daycare), bathrooms, livingroom and backyard.
LPA Garcia inspected the facility for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and working phone (cell phone). For ventilation, LPA Garcia observed in wall AC unit and portable heating unit. LPA observed the furniture, children’s materials, to be in good condition and age appropriate. LPA did not observe a fireplace nor a wall heater. LPA observed 3 pack n’ plays that is used for sleeping, as well as additional cots if needed.
LPA Garcia observed cleaning compounds to be stored in kitchen cabinet that is secured with safety lock and in kitchen which is off limits and barricaded by a metal safety gate. Knives and sharp objects stored inside the kitchen top cabinet with a childproof lock making it inaccessible for children to open. For water drinking, licensee stated she provides water bottles. The licensee stated she participates in a food program and provides breakfast, a.m. snack, lunch and p.m. snacks. LPA informed licensee any food brought from the children's homes, the container shall be labeled with the child's name and properly stored or refrigerated. Licensee stated she currently does not have any children with severe food allergies nor on medication.
LPA Garcia entered the bathroom and observed the toilet, hand washing sink, hand soap and LPA observed the bottom sink cabinet closed and secured with safety locks and did not observe hazard materials and observed the restroom to be in good condition.
